Last Wednesday, August 7, a commercial vehicle was attacked by armed men in the village of Gubutimbi, 15 km from Pombolo, in the Mbomou province. According to testimonies, two armed men launched the attack on a hill overlooking the area, killing five passengers in the broken-down truck. Two of the passengers managed to escape and informed the residents of Pombolo. The truck, which came from Bangassou, was on its way to Bambari. It had been stuck in Gubutimbi for more than a week due to a breakdown. The tragedy occurred less than a week after the army took action against UPC elements active in the area. The deputy governor of Gambo, Dieudonné Wénéngaïsse, also joined Ines Gradibert-Bidar.
