Three cases of West Nile fever were detected in the Volgograd region. This was reported by the online publication V1.ru telegraph.
All three residents became infected after being bitten by mosquitoes carrying the disease.
The Volgograd region became the fourth region in Russia to have cases of West Nile fever in 2024. Previously, several infected people were also found in the Astrakhan and Ryazan regions of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Doctors have previously named the cause of the outbreak of West Nile fever in Russia. According to them, mosquitoes are infected by cormorants and seagulls, which then transmit the disease to humans.
