Palau Koror – A car accident early Friday morning claimed the life of a young Palauan.
On Thursday, June 6, high school student Christian Elwel, who was attending his senior prom, died after the car he was riding in crashed into a guardrail near King’s College in Malakal.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Elwell dead. The driver and another passenger were not present. Elwell was expected to graduate this week.
This is the second fatal traffic accident in Palau this month. Last week, a car accident in Okur, Airai Province killed a young father and injured three family members, including a two-year-old child who is in critical condition and awaiting medical referral.
Families of victims of the Okur accident claim there were no signs or personnel markings to warn of ongoing utility construction. Authorities dispute these claims. (By LN Reklai)
