Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says rapper Ye Anti-Semitic remarks It caused international outrage and led to the collapse of his career, but he was a “very good man” with a “good heart”.

Trump on Monday Right-wing Jews Video game streamer Adin Ross has a huge audience, which allows him to bring in high-profile interview subjects.

The former president’s comments reflect his relationship with the man once known as Kanye WestHe publicly supported Trump before announcing a “Death Hoax 3” against Jews in 2022. Ye’s comments later included a series of praises for Adolf Hitler, sparking a series of anti-Semitic actions across the country, including graffiti that read “Kanye is right about the Jews.”

Shortly after Ye Jianming lost his multibillion-dollar contract with Adidas over his comments, Trump hosted a dinner for Ye Jianming, which was also attended by Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, which drew harsh criticism.

Trump made only brief comments about Ye during Monday’s live broadcast, and Ross, 24, also gave him a Tesla Cybertruck and a Rolex watch – a possible violation of campaign finance laws. Ye made the comments when Ross put a photo of the musician on his computer screen and asked Trump for his immediate reaction.

“He’s really complicated. Let’s just say ‘complicated,’ ” Trump said of Ye Jianming. “He’s a very good man, but he gets himself into trouble, and he gets other people into trouble. But he has a good heart.”

Trump says Israel will not be threatened by Iran if he is elected president

Trump also said several times in an interview on the streaming platform Kick that Israel is not currently under threat of an Iranian attack if he were president.

“I heard that Israel is going to be attacked tonight. If I were president, no one would be talking about that word because it’s never going to happen,” he said. He later commented that “if the election wasn’t rigged” — referring to the 2020 election that Trump falsely claimed was stolen — “we wouldn’t be attacking Israel.”

Like Trump, Ross — a South Florida native and liaison to the growing young online right — has a history with Ye. Ross had contacted the rapper in 2022 to appear on his Twitch channel after Ye’s anti-Semitic comments became public, but the interview never took place. Ross later claimed that while the interview would “generate a large audience,” he would not allow Ye to use it to denigrate Jews, to which Ye reportedly responded, “You Jews don’t tell me what I can and can’t say.”

However, Ross, who has millions of streaming viewers, has also contributed to anti-Semitic voices throughout his streaming career. In 2023, he was permanently banned from Twitch for showing his viewers a series of unmoderated comments (including anti-Semitic posts); he also said on stream that he didn’t know what fascism was.

In 2023, he also hosted Fuentes to question him about the high number of reported anti-Semitic hate crimes and asked him, “Why do people hate Jews?” (To this, Fuentes believed that Jews staged anti-Semitic hate crimes for attention and said, “I do believe that Jews are doing Satan’s work.”)

Earlier this year, Ross also defended New York Jets player South Gardner after he said in a live broadcast that Jews “run the world.” While Gardner quickly apologized, Ross insisted he “didn’t do anything wrong or say anything wrong,” adding: “What you said about Jews running the world in a good way is true.”

Meanwhile, Ye has been working to return to Judaism since apologizing to the Jews last year, and even as he continues to stir up anti-Semitism, he recently received praise from the new CEO of Adidas. This week, he released his latest album, Vultures 2, in collaboration with rapper Ty Dolla $ign. He was recently photographed wearing clothing promoting the Norwegian metal band Burzum, whose lead singer Varg Vikernes is a neo-Nazi and convicted murderer who has written extensively about anti-Semitism.
