Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha said that Cambodian people were defrauded of nearly 40 million US dollars in the first half of this year.
Sokha, who also chairs the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (NCCT), called on law enforcement and other relevant agencies to intensify efforts to combat human trafficking, stressing that criminals involved in such activities are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Sokha made the remarks at the 8th National Interfaith Day to Combat Human Trafficking held at Phnom Penh’s Chroy Changvar International Exhibition and Convention Center. The event, themed “Religious Moral Education in Preventing Human Trafficking in the Digital Age,” attracted about 2,500 participants.
