Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of August 9, 2024, a dialogue on “China’s New Journey of Reform, New Opportunities for Cambodia-China Cooperation” was held at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, chaired by Dr. Sok Thu, President of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, and Mr. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In the video, Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of China Media Group, welcomed the program and said: The Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee successfully concluded in Beijing. This is an important point for China in the new era. The comprehensive deepening of reform in China in the new era is a key way to drive the modernization of modern Chinese style, which will effectively promote national rejuvenation and national construction, and will also provide new impetus for mankind to follow the path of modernization and build a better social system. It will provide new opportunities for the development of all countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenpin said that this forum has indeed promoted the development of Cambodia-China relations. In particular, we shared and discussed with everyone the significance, spirit and inspiration of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin said that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was an important meeting of extraordinary significance. Through this meeting, the world saw China’s courage, perseverance and commitment to reform and development, saw China’s continuous expansion, innovation and more vitality, and saw the broad-mindedness of adhering to peaceful development and always opening up.

China’s high-quality development and high-level opening-up will bring more opportunities to countries around the world, including Cambodia. China is willing to exchange governance experience with Cambodia and take development paths that suit the national conditions of each country. China is willing to share development achievements with Cambodia and jointly achieve their respective modernization goals. Cambodia continues to deepen the docking of Cambodia’s “Belt and Road” and the “Pentagon” initiative to improve the livelihood of the Cambodian people and the people of the two countries.

China is willing to strengthen regional and international cooperation with Cambodia, jointly achieve win-win cooperation in the current era, and make greater contributions to regional and world peace and prosperity.

Dr. Sothu praised the long history of Cambodia-China cooperation. At present, the relationship between the leaders of the two countries has always maintained an improving momentum. The current dialogue is the most important contribution to strengthening and expanding the relations between Cambodia and China.

Dr. Ky Sereywat, Director of the Institute of China Studies of the Royal Academy of Cambodia; Dr. Kin Phea, Director of the Institute of International Relations of the Royal Academy of Cambodia; Dr. Chea Monirith, President of the Association of Chinese Progressive Researchers in Cambodia; Sophie, President of the Cambodia-China Journalists Association; and Ms. Yao Shiya, Director of the Cambodia-China Friendship Radio, respectively introduced their understanding of China’s reforms and new opportunities for Cambodia-China cooperation.

The program, co-organized by the Royal Academy of Cambodia, the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the Cambodia-China Friendship Radio of China Central Radio and Television, was also attended by His Excellency Lok Chumteavs, speakers, teachers and journalists, a total of about 250 people.
