A wildfire three times the size of Oslo is raging in California
A large wildfire is burning in California. According to Reuters, the fire has been named the “Park Fire.”
The forest fire covers more than 1,600 square kilometers. NTB writes that it is three times larger than Oslo. It is the third largest wildfire in California’s history.
A 42-year-old man has been charged with arson after he allegedly pushed a burning car down a ravine, according to witnesses. The flames were then said to have spread to a nearby forest.
More than 4,000 people have been evacuated and at least 560 buildings have been destroyed. More than 6,000 firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control.
Weather has challenged our efforts. Thunderstorms hit California on Saturday, producing strong gusty winds. Temperatures were high and rainfall was minimal. Authorities were concerned that lightning could worsen conditions.
