Reply to “Hit the Road, Hahn!” (Brian Pasiphium, August 24): Who decides what is anti-Semitic, the author of the comments or the recipient? So when Hahn says his comments are not anti-Semitic, shouldn’t it be up to me, as a Jew, to decide whether they are? Similarly, if I start calling black people the vile, hate-filled “N-word” and say it’s OK because it was common practice in the South a hundred years ago, won’t black people call me a racist? So, Fred Hahn, Jews everywhere, including members of your own union, have declared your comments about Israel over the past ten months to be absolutely anti-Semitic. Enough with the hate already!

Propaganda of hatred

Paul MacDonald
(True. Also unacceptable and not applicable here)
Selfie for the people
I really don’t understand why when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shows up at picnics, exhibitions, or various other events, some people are so keen to take pictures with him as if he is some kind of celebrity. It’s disgusting.
Does he think that will be enough to get some gullible people to vote for him? Perhaps.
Do you think he would show up for a selfie at one of the massive homeless encampments, the so-called “safe drug” sites he approves, or some of the endless Palestinian protests? I think not.

Please go back to basics
What we need is for governments at all levels to get back to basics, rather than waiting until the crisis stage for infrastructure to receive attention.
We will not elect people who spend their time and money with special interests while neglecting their primary responsibilities. Remember, there is only one taxpayer, and we expect politicians at all levels to do their jobs.

We are all concerned about our water use because the local council is not focusing on these important things.
