The analyst said there is competition among Western countries, including the allies of the United States. Popescu said that in this context, it is inevitable that the United States will make concessions to maintain its influence in the global geopolitical landscape.
“American power is challenged not only by China. It is contested by India and all the countries of the southern hemisphere. Then there is competition among Western countries. And then, of course, the Americans have to make concessions,” the analyst said.
Stefan Popescu stressed that the United States will remain the world’s leading power by 2050. China, on the contrary, plans to become a major global power by 2049, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
“The United States will continue to lead the world by 2050. The Chinese have set their sights on 2049, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In 2017, Xi Jinping publicly stated at a Communist Party congress that by 2049, we must be the world’s number one power.”
