A businessman who managed an amusement park in the Pasvalis area was convicted of injuring a tourist, causing a broken spine while playing on a homemade attraction.

The Birzai chamber of the Panevėžys District Court heard the criminal case and found both defendants guilty last week, the prosecutor’s office reported.
The manager of the public institution that manages the amusement park, VJ, received 4,000. EUR, and the director of the small association G. Č – a 3 thousand EUR fine. They also have to jointly pay to the Panevėžys Regional Sickness Fund 4,000. 807 EUR for the treatment and rehabilitation of the victim.
The court ruled that the tyre descent, which ends with a jump on a trampoline, must be destroyed. The decision is still subject to appeal.
The accident took place in July 2021 at the popular amusement park. A resident of the Panevěžs district came here with his family and decided to try the tire downhill ramp, which had been opened only a few days ago and ended at a springboard. When falling from the trampoline, the man let go of the tires of the skate and fell on the inflatable mat (trampoline), feeling pain in his back.
After returning home, the man went to see a doctor. It was later discovered that he had fractured a vertebra and required surgery. The specialist concluded that the man’s health was vulnerable to disruption.
The injured man reported to the police that he was injured while using a potentially unsafe device at the amusement park. A pre-trial investigation has been opened and is being conducted by officers of the Pasvali Regional Police Department, the Panevėžys District Police Chief, and the investigation is led by prosecutor Rima Matulionienė of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office.
The preliminary investigation found that the head of the public institution built an illegal downhill track with tires on VJ’s personal land in 2021 and transferred it to a small community for recreational services for park visitors. The latter association’s president, G.Č., used unsafe products, violating the provisions of the Product Safety Act. The two businessmen were charged with causing minor health damage by negligence.
Investigations revealed the track, which is available to teenagers and adults, was built using separate, uncertified products. No specialists were used to install it.
