At a press conference held in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, representatives from trade unions, social professions and associations reiterated their full support for the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. They said that they had made this resolution in light of recent attempts to undermine the government. “We invite all the people of Burkina Faso to trust in the ability of the current authorities to reconquer the national territory and, above all, to abandon attempts to destabilize it,” they declared.
“The blood of our heroic FDN and PDP fighters, who fell on the fields of honor with weapons in their hands, and the blood of our barbarously massacred people, should challenge national and international opinion. Unfortunately, it is in this very hostile context that some of our compatriots have decided to act against their own country,” lamented Roch Donatien Nagalo, spokesman for the collective and secretary general of the National Union of Traders of Burkina Faso (SYNATCOMB).
Mr Nagaro lamented the recent posting of “false and defamatory” messages on social networks by people with the aim of discrediting the rulers’ efforts to reconquer the territory and promote harmonious development in the country as a whole.
“Africa’s real enemies are Africans”
“These people, guided by imperialism and self-interest, have no other purpose than to interrupt the development trajectory of our peoples in their quest for true sovereignty. As it is often said, the real enemies of Africa are Africans.”
“Because there is a saying: We do not cut the branch we sit on,” said Roch Donatien Nagalo, the spokesperson for the collective and secretary general of SYNATCOMB

Mr. Nagalo then clarified the motives of their media exposure while reading out his opening statement. “That is why we, the stakeholders of the trade union structure, the socio-professional and associational organizations, have deliberately taken the initiative to reiterate our support for the approach of President Ibrahim Traoré and the current government to meet the strong aspirations of the Burkina Faso people,” he explained.
While congratulating the National Security Agency and the People’s Democratic Party for their achievements in various theaters of operations, the group encouraged the combat troops to redouble their efforts to achieve a complete victory. He said he paid tribute to all the Burkinabe people who died as a result of insecurity: civilians and soldiers, and expressed solidarity with the entire country and the grieving families.
Invitation to abandon destabilizing attempts
In light of the above, the Secretary General of SYNATCOMB invites all Burkina Faso people to trust the current authorities in the process of reconquering the national territory and, above all, to abandon attempts to destabilize it. “We invite our compatriots who are manipulated by selfish interests to unite and contribute through constructive criticism rather than self-destruction,” he added.
Faced with a security environment that affects the country’s economy, the collective calls on the authorities to take into account the genuine concerns of actors in the economic chain in order to build a viable, strong and resilient economy as a guarantor of lasting peace.

Mr. Nagalo said Burkina Faso is no longer at a crossroads. “Our country, as its name suggests, is the ‘land of honest people’, a country of peace, cohesion and hospitality,” he stressed. For him, the values he embodies are citizenship, patriotism and integrity. But it is clear that these values are ignored and despised by some. However, the strength of a country lies in its ability to spread good values to its people and for them to be respected, he said.
Finally, the group urged the Burkinabés in the interior and the diaspora, as well as the friends of Burkina Faso, to actively unite. He also called on the country’s economic operators to remain resilient and, above all, to redouble their efforts to contribute to the country’s development. Despite the security challenges, foreign investors were also invited to have confidence in a country that offers a lot of potential and opportunities.
