Burkina Faso: “No force can stop us”, says Prime Minister Kélem on instability in transition period

“It all started with the penultimate Council of Ministers, which took place on June 13. On that day, we learned through certain foreign media and social networks that an agent in charge of guarding had mishandled his weapon and that a shooting had occurred. The President would flee, the Prime Minister would disappear, and the Minister of State, Bartholomew Bazié, would try to flee, while he was not present at the Council of Ministers because he was on a mission in Geneva, Switzerland”, this is how the Prime Minister, Dr. Apollinaire Joachimsen Kélem de Tambela, expressed the origin of the news, before assuring national opinion that none of the transitional authorities had modified their agenda and that “the state continues to function normally”.

He demonstrated this position by presiding over certain events in the following days, namely the launch ceremony of the widening project of National Road 2 (RN2) on June 15, and the certification ceremony of the Burkina Faso Infrastructure Engineering Agency (AGETIB) on June 18, 2024.

“We continue our activities as usual and I can tell you that neither the president of Faso, nor the prime minister, nor members of the government have changed their schedules,” he confirmed.

According to him, from this incident, the Burkinabe people now know the conspiracy that is being planned.

“Imperialist media like France 24, Radio France Internationale, Radio 5 Monde, Jeune Africaine, have seized on the topic and tried to create confusion and trouble that could benefit their masters to intervene and put an end to the regime. It is well known that this is how we demonized President Thomas Sankara before his assassination and then prepared to get rid of him by financing the production of leaflets against him in Burkina Faso. These media are not reliable and that is why we banned them from broadcasting in France a long time ago, because we do not want these media. The media inoculates our people with poison,” the head of government argued.

That is why he invited Burkinabe journalists not to serve the imperialist media.

“Not everything that these media spread is true. You had the opportunity to see how RFI was manipulated and manipulated, how France 24 was manipulated and manipulated, how TV5 Monde was manipulated and manipulated, how Jeune Afrique was manipulated and manipulated. Let you decide”, he advised them.

This incident sounds instructive because it shows the determination of some people to oppose the transition.

“A lot of people don’t like what we’re doing.

We launched a policy of sovereignty, national reconstruction and wealth redistribution because there is no reason why a few should be comfortable and the majority should suffer,” he noted.

The Prime Minister added: “This policy harms the interests of those who are there, who are the local lackeys of imperialism, who are supported by foreign powers, such as France, the United States of America, but they do not trade with them. So their interest is that the imperialists will not act directly, because it is obvious, so they rely on certain Burkina Faso and abroad, such as Côte d’Ivoire, France or the United States of America, ready to serve their masters because they receive a pre-bend.

However, he regretted that some Burkinabés were happy about the situation.

“When terrorists inflict victims among the Burkina Faso people, most of them are happy, and when our army kills terrorists, they are not happy. They even say that we are slaughtering civilians. You see, some people from abroad, it’s because they don’t consider Burkina Faso their homeland, they work for French capitalism and imperialism. There is evidence. How can you sell your country abroad for special interests while your ancestors rest in this country?” he said.

Moreover, the Prime Minister is more determined than ever to lead this transition successfully.

No force can stop us, especially because we have the support of the people, the real people, not those who are in collusion with foreign powers. We are talking about the small people, which are farmers, artisans, breeders, merchants, etc. We work for them, not for those who were previously in collusion with the state. We want to work for our small people, so we are carrying out various reforms to transform our local products, opening factories in some parts of our country to process our products. The same is true for gold. Some countries sell gold that does not produce gold, and we are setting up mechanisms to recover and capture it to refine it on site. And use it for the Burkina Faso nation. Some countries have mining licenses, and we are transforming all these mines into national tools for national production. All this politics does not satisfy many people because they see that their interests are disappearing,” said Dr. Kelem de Tambela.

“You must understand the struggle we are waging. Let everyone choose his side. If you choose the side of your country, you must know how you behave. If you also choose the side of your country’s enemies, that is your problem. When the battle begins, we will know how to distinguish between our friends and our enemies,” he insisted.
