The Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Kargougou, and his team were ecstatic on Wednesday evening, June 26, 2024. They had reason to receive from the UNFPA Resident Representative, Alain Akpadji, money to treat the war wounded and reopen certain health facilities.
In his speech, the representative of the residents said that these products, valued at 10 million CFA francs, are intended to contribute to the care of the wounded and the reopening of certain medical institutions. The Minister, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the receipt of these products, which are a concrete act of solidarity between partners around a common cause.

But it is important to remember that these supplies of medical consumables are not the first action of the UN agency. According to the Resident Representative, in addition to these products, UNFPA has also provided a contribution of about CFA 3 billion for the implementation of the Ministry of Health’s plans and programs, which will be spread across several aspects of different interventions.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction with this fruitful partnership and said that the most important thing about this donation is that it was obtained through the Central Strategic Operator of the Ministry of Health, CAMEG, which makes it possible to strengthen the health system. “Because, according to him, the arrival of certain supports, it must be said, disrupts the health system,” he recalled.
Another aspect that the minister also stressed is that the donation will also facilitate the reopening of basic social services in the country to take care of the people who have resettled in Burkina Faso.
