The man mentioned here is one of the 3,000 new farmers in the Baglepore plains. Moussa Kanazoé is a key member of the Cassava Producers Union, which brings together a large part of these 3,000 farmers. He has lived in these plains for about fifteen years and was chosen by the cassava producers to lead the union. He grew cassava only to feed his family. But after speaking with agricultural agents, he and all the other producers knew that it was a crop that could generate profits. “Because it is used in many dishes, such as attieké, placali, gari, etc., they suggested that we start using it and helped us with the process. This is how all of us started and today we have no regrets,” he said.

In the Bagre Plain, cassava producers occupy more than 75 hectares. But the president of the union said he exploits about three hectares. Cassava production provides jobs and is very rewarding because it can be planted and harvested in nine months. “On one hectare, we harvest 30 tons or more, and the price per kilogram is between 50 and 115 CFA francs, and every hectare is planted with cassava. If you spend more, it is about 300,000 francs. And his work is not complicated. You just have to observe the weeding period and the watering period,” he convinced young people interested in agriculture, especially cassava cultivation, to start planting. They say that the earth does not lie. “I say this because when you take a cassava stem, you can feed 7 to 8 people in a day. What can be better than this? This is the first benefit, it is not time-consuming and not tiring. When you only clean once, you only go to check and water, otherwise there is nothing to do and you can go to other things,” he said.
