Korean Air changes snack offerings due to turbulence
Noodle soup is no longer available in economy class. The airline said the risk of burns during turbulence was too great.

There have been several incidents this year where passengers had to be hospitalized due to turbulence. Singapore Airlines tightens turbulence rules
Since those incidents, airlines have tightened their onboard rules, using better prediction tools on the one hand and more quickly deploying seatbelt signs and requiring passengers to actually buckle up more often on the other.
Going forward, Singapore Airlines will suspend service if the captain turns on the seatbelt sign. No food or hot drinks will be served and cabin crew will be seated and fastened like all passengers.
Hot drinks or soup are one of the biggest dangers during turbulence. Korean Air said that so far, flight attendants have drunk several bowls of noodle soup using tablets; in the cramped economy cabin, violent, sudden shaking poses a risk of burns to crew members and passengers.
Korean Air will now offer sandwiches, corn dogs or hot pockets instead of hot soup in the lowest cabins. However, instant noodles and ramen will still be available in higher classes.
