EU bans certain tattoo inks from 2022
New EU regulations come into force on January 4, 2022. It bans or restricts the use of certain chemicals in tattoo inks and permanent makeup. Blue and green colors are particularly affected because they often contain substances covered by the new restrictions.
The new regulations are designed to improve the safety of tattoo inks by reducing or eliminating potentially harmful substances that may cause allergies, cancer or other health problems. Hundreds of substances are affected, including those classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive toxic.
