A new crime scene has been established in Shepherds Bush, London, and the Metropolitan Police has taken over the hunt for the suspect.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is in charge of the Metropolitan Police investigation, said: “We are mobilising resources from across the Metropolitan Police to locate and arrest the suspect and I urge anyone who thinks they have seen him or knows his whereabouts to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him.”
The victim has not yet been formally identified, with the first autopsy coming back as “inconclusive” and a second autopsy still underway.
Locals’ fear of horrific discovery
Local man Michael Mulcahy, 57, said it was concerning that such a brutal crime could happen so close to Clifton, a Georgian suburb known for its wealthy businesses.
He told MailOnline: “It’s horrific to think of a person being dismembered and put into suitcases.
“I think this guy must have been trying to throw them over the bridge.
“But those safety rails are high — it takes some strength to throw a heavy suitcase over them.”

Taxi under investigation after man abandons suitcase
A taxi, believed to be a blue Hackney Taxi, is currently undergoing forensic examination while the driver assists police in identifying the man.
On Thursday, police released a photo of the wanted man, who is described as black and wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black sneakers with white platform soles, gold earrings and a black backpack.
He is believed to have left the bridge in the direction of Leigh Woods, where a witness said he was being chased by a cyclist.
Witness Giles Malone told LBC that a woman joked with the suspect about the “beaten-up suitcase” that was later found to contain human remains.
“Another lady started helping them and the lady helping them said ‘This is the heaviest suitcase I’ve ever moved. What’s in it? A dead body?’
“We half-joked about it, but they didn’t say anything.”

Helicopters hover over Shepherd’s Bush crime scene
A helicopter hovered over the crime scene in Scott Road, Shepherds Bush, on Friday afternoon as four police officers cordoned off the bin area beneath the high-rise building.
Anthony Priest, 85, a resident of the Scott Road area of Shepherd’s Bush, said: “I heard them demolishing the house here early in the morning.
“I heard a police car approaching with its lights flashing.
“It was about half past three.”

The chief constable of Bristol Police said the search for the suspect has now been handed over to the Metropolitan Police.
Bristol Acting Commander Vickers Hayward-Mellen told a press conference on Friday afternoon: “The search for the man whose photo we published yesterday is currently being led by the Metropolitan Police.
“There is no information to suggest he remains in the Avon and Somerset area.
“He is described as black with a beard. He was wearing a black Adidas baseball cap with a white pattern on it, black jeans, a black jacket with a pattern on the chest and a pair of black trainers with a white platform sole.
“He is also believed to be wearing a gold earring and carrying a black backpack.
“We urge anyone who sees him not to approach him but to call 999.”

Police received more than 160 tips
The public has been warned not to approach the suspect.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is leading the Metropolitan Police investigation, said: “Over the past 48 hours we have been working closely with colleagues in Avon and Somerset. This work has led us to believe that the man we need to interview flew from London to Bristol on Wednesday evening (July 10).
“We are mobilising Metropolitan Police resources to locate and arrest the suspect and I urge anyone who thinks they have seen him or knows his whereabouts to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him.
“We recognise that this has caused great concern to residents in the Clifton area and will cause concern to residents and workers in west London.
“There will be extra officers patrolling the area over the coming days and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to them.”

A second autopsy is underway
Bristol Acting Commander Vickers Hayward-Mellen said at a press conference that the bodies have not yet been formally identified and police are still looking for relatives of the victims.
She said it was “urgent” to find the next of kin of the two victims.
There is no indication that the suspect remains in the Avon and Somerset police area.
