Brinkevich’s promise: I will lead the government if people trust us

Last week, the Social Democratic Party announced in a press release that V. Blinkevičiūtė would form a government together with the President if the people give the Social Democratic Party the highest confidence in the parliamentary elections.

Interview on Wednesday Delphi V. Blinkevičiūtė confirmed that if the elections are successful, she will lead such a government.

“As party chairman, I take full responsibility for what I have said all along: I did submit this list to Congress – that’s what I said. Also, as I have said many times, I will not evade any responsibility, I will take it completely, and if the Lithuanian people trust us Social Democrats, I will certainly take the responsibility for forming a government and leading the government,” the party chairman said.

“I really want all Lithuanian people to hear this: I have never hidden behind anyone’s skirt like some party leaders do. I led the party to parliament and I believed in success because people really need a state that works in all areas,” she added.

Blinkevičiūtė: We will go to the parliamentary election line

When asked if she would give up her position as an MEP if the Social Democrats had the chance to form a government and she became prime minister, V. Blinkevičiūtė made it clear that she would.

V. Blinkevičiūtė said: “If we Social Democrats have confidence, I will definitely take on the responsibility of leading the government after reaching an agreement with the President of the country and gaining the confidence and approval of our party.”

Brinkevich has long shown no ambition to become head of government, despite previous expressions of support from President Gitanas Nauseda.

Now, as the parties “head towards the congressional election route, according to the politician, it is time to announce their decision.

“You know, I’ve lived a lifetime, been in politics for many years, and have eaten more than one pot of salt here, so wisdom is definitely enough for me. I am just such a person, I never think, consider, put on a crown and run forward. You must have known this, and this is simply unacceptable to me.

“But now that we are actually on the road to the parliamentary elections, I say this very responsibly. As for what was in my mind and how it was, that was a long time ago. It just occurred to me that it was not enough for me to bring the list to the parliament, that something needed to be done… But I don’t want to go back there, go deeper, etc. In my opinion, I have said everything today, I have put all the dots on the “i”, commented V. Blinkevičiūtė.

What will happen to Palak?

G. Nausėda also named LSDP deputy chairman Gintautas Paluckas as a suitable candidate for the post of prime minister. He was interviewed Elta He said he was ready to take over the government if his party won the parliamentary election in the fall.

G. Palukas assured that the situation would only be better if the party leading in Lithuania’s support had two ready-made candidates for prime minister – himself and V. Blinkevičiūtė.

So what will happen to him, G. Paluccas, still the party’s candidate for prime minister?

The LSDP chairman did not give a clear answer to this.

Quintatas Palucas

“As you probably know well, our Social Democratic Party is a serious party. There has never been and never will be just one person in the party. I am proud and happy about that. We have many experienced people in the party – including MPs, mayors and staff of all the other institutions. There are 14,000 people in the party. And there are a lot of experienced people who can be relied on, and that is the strength of the party.

The worst thing is when the party has only one person – you know what I’m talking about. These parties are usually parties of a political cycle, they just disappear from the political landscape – I probably won’t mention which parties, we all know that they are gone now. The Social Democratic Party was not, is not and will never be. There is a strong party”, V. Blinkevičiūtė taught.

He claimed that Karbauskis’s comments were aimed at the election

The leader of “Valstiečių” Ramūnas Karbauskis said that he would not form a coalition with the Social Democrats if their deputy G. Paluckas became prime minister, because, as the politician mentioned, he was convicted of corruption and is a young conservative.

Perhaps such statements had an impact on V. Blinkevičiūtė’s decision?

The politician denied this: “Oh no, oh no. What are you talking about here? You know, it’s election rhetoric, it comes and goes. I just hope that everyone always weighs election rhetoric.”

Palucas: Blinkevičiūtė is the most suitable candidate

In G. Palucko’s assessment, V. Blinkevičiūtė, who is determined to lead the new government, is the most suitable person for this position. The politician said that there should be no doubts about the determination of the LDP chairman to become prime minister, because this has been said more than once.

“I don’t know who should be surprised by this – to be honest, we have always said this. I don’t know, here there are only enemies of the party or political opponents who keep blowing this bubble that Velijya doesn’t want, can’t, won’t, etc. We have repeated several times, repeated and will repeat again – yes, Velijya is our number one candidate, will form a coalition if necessary, will become prime minister if necessary”, – Wednesday Elta G. Paloucas said.

“I have no doubts about the villia, I don’t know who has them here, who has them, who spreads them, but basically we have been repeating the same thing for a while,” added the politician, who recently publicly considered the possibility of becoming prime minister himself.

When asked whether V. Blinkevičiūtė is the most suitable Social Democratic candidate for the post of Prime Minister, G. Paluckas assured that he has no doubts about it.

“Yes, I am sure of it,” he said.

However, the politician did not abandon his previously expressed consideration that his candidacy would also be suitable for the post of prime minister.

“Maybe I could (be considered), yes, I could,” G. Paloucas pointed out.

“Whatever name is mentioned – be it the president or another party member, yes, we also have these abilities and knowledge, we are accumulating them. As I have said many times – what you have, you do not carry on your shoulders, tomorrow is not set in stone, it is not promised to anyone. Therefore, the main task of a politician is – to always be ready for everything. If you are ready, it will only be better for the party and Lithuania,” the Social Democrat said.

As mentioned earlier, V. Blinkevičiūtė will lead the LSDP list in the parliamentary elections on October 13. G. Palukas is second on the multi-mission district list.
