According to the Kyiv military administration, at least 29 people were killed in the offensive on the capital, including three children. Two people were killed and at least 16 were injured in the attack on the children’s hospital. Ten more people were killed in simultaneous attacks in other locations across the country.

Please read the Brazilian government’s statement:

“The Brazilian Government condemns the explosion that occurred today at the Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, which caused a large number of deaths, including children. The Brazilian Government reiterates its condemnation of attacks in densely populated areas, especially those that caused damage to hospital facilities and other civilian infrastructure, and expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families.

Brazil urges all parties to the conflict to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law, including the special protection accorded to medical facilities and units, which must be respected in all circumstances.

The Brazilian Government continues to defend dialogue and a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine. Until the parties concerned truly and effectively engage in peace negotiations, Brazil once again calls for the three principles of de-escalation: no expansion of the battlefield, no escalation of the fighting, and no escalation of the situation anywhere..

Russia has denied responsibility for the hospital attack and claimed the damage was caused by flaws in Ukraine’s air defenses.
