During the summer, Dagens Media checked in with a number of industry profiles to find out how their holiday plans were going and what issues they were facing when they returned to work.

Alexander Lydecker, CCO Bonnier News:

What do you look forward to doing in your downtime?

– I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and being able to spend time with my children, who, in my opinion, are growing up too fast. We will probably stop in Norway for some cycling, hiking, boating and fishing. Then we’ll probably spend some time in the mountains, where there’s a cabin.

What media won’t you take a break from during the holidays?

– Of course our own media, which I consume every day. I am also a loyal P1 listener, so I look forward to listening to all the interesting summer speakers.

What are the most important issues your company/organization needs to address when you return this fall?

– I am very much looking forward to starting to see the results in terms of efficiencies from all the hard work we are currently doing internally, especially with what we are doing in the field of artificial BroadCast Unitedligence. We are working hard on this and we are already seeing clear results in terms of internal efficiencies. But also within the framework of our product development, meeting the needs of our users and customers with our Plus Allt package.

– We are also making a lot of changes within Bonnier News that are a further evolution of our current operating model. I look forward to being involved in implementing and continuing to evolve our entire structure to become an even more efficient operation within Bonnier News as a whole.

What was most challenging about the spring season for you or your company/organization?

– We have been and partly still are in a difficult macroeconomic situation. The Riksbank has been struggling to keep inflation under control, which means that our interest rates are still relatively high if compared to the situation in recent years. This of course affects the private finances of households and also affects the willingness of companies to invest.

– We are the largest news media company in the Nordics, and its advertising and media businesses currently have the largest market share in Sweden. If you take on this kind of risk in a generally weak economy, you quickly find yourself in a challenging position in an already very competitive market. Especially if we want to maintain or even increase our market share. I and others pray that the small flashes of light we are seeing now will continue and create greater stability. All of us working in the news media industry deserve it.
