German automaker BMW is recalling 720,000 796 vehicles due to a short-circuit problem.
The German auto giant is recalling certain vehicles from the 2012-2018 model years, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The statement said improperly sealed electrical connectors on the pumps could be exposed to water. While some said this could cause a short circuit, others pointed out that the risk of fire would increase.
It was highlighted that the number of vehicles affected by the recall decision is 720,000 796 units.
The statement said that relevant dealers will inspect the problematic parts and replace or install protective covers if necessary.
Notification required by October 4
Vehicle owners have until October 4 to submit their notifications.
Earlier this month, BMW recalled more than 100,000 vehicles in the United States and more than 1.3 million vehicles in China last week because of engine failures that could cause overheating or, in rare cases, fire.
