Blinken approves sale of more than $20 billion in various military equipment to Israel
The delivery includes tank shells, air-to-air missiles, F-15 fighter jets and M1148A1P2 tactical war machines
BTA cited Reuters as saying that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today approved the sale of various US military equipment to Israel worth more than $20 billion.
The Pentagon clarified that the equipment included anti-tank missiles, air-to-air missiles, F-15 fighter jets and M1148A1P2 tactical war machines.
Meanwhile, Blinken postponed his trip to the Middle East. He was scheduled to travel to the region today, according to Reuters, referring to the US publication Axios.
The American publication wrote that the trip of the first American diplomat was postponed due to the uncertainty of the situation.
Blinken will travel to the Middle East again as part of the US push for ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier today, Hamas fired two rockets at Tel Aviv, its first in months, and Israel launched new airstrikes on the enclave.
A U.S. State Department spokesman said Israel and Hamas should take part in talks this week to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.
“We believe that negotiators should sit down at the negotiating table. We believe that reaching a ceasefire agreement is the best way to ease the current tensions,” Reuters quoted Karine Jean-Pierre as saying.
