Bishop Allan Kiuna, known for his influence as co-founder and senior pastor of Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) in Nairobi, has died.
A family spokesman said he died in a Nairobi hospital. The family friend said Kiuna was rushed to the hospital for treatment after his condition worsened on Tuesday.
His friends and family gathered at his home in Lunda after learning of his death. Kiuna was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018/2019.
Multiple myeloma occurs when abnormal plasma cells build up in the bone marrow and form tumors in multiple bones in the body.
He was the husband of Bishop Cathy Kiuna of the same Jewish Community Center congregation. Many mourned Kiuna’s death, describing him as a dedicated man.
Multiple myeloma causes cancer cells to build up in the bone marrow and crowd out healthy blood cells.
Instead of producing helpful antibodies, cancer cells produce abnormal proteins that can cause complications.
Bishop Kiuna shared with the public his battle with cancer in 2019. He thanked God for helping him through his difficult trial.
The JCC was founded in January 1999 by visionary Bishop Kiuna and his wife, Reverend Kathy.
