Manzoor Pashkin, leader of the Pashtun Protection Movement, confirmed the death of the movement’s famous poet and activist minister Gillet Mann.
Ghilman Wazir was seriously injured after being attacked by unidentified people in the capital Islamabad last Sunday and died of cancer last night, the 20th.
Addressing supporters of the Pashtun Protection Movement gathered in front of Pyms Hospital in Islamabad late last night, the Pashtun said the minister was no longer among them.
“While it is a very sad thing and difficult for me to say, my minister Jill is no longer among us.”
The minister was rushed to Islamabad’s Pyms Hospital on July 7 with serious head injuries.
Gila Man Wazir, whose real name was Hazrat Naeem, lived in Razmak area of North Waziristan.
He was popular among the youths due to his activities for Pashtun rights and his Masinist poetry.
In some of his poems, Ghilman Wazir also spoke about security issues in Pakistan and criticized the country’s government.
