The White House issued a written statement detailing the White House meeting between Biden and Netanyahu.
“President Biden stressed the need to fill the remaining gaps in the Gaza ceasefire and conclude it as soon as possible, allowing the return of prisoners and permanently ending the Gaza war,” the statement said. Biden also expressed the United States’ “unwavering” commitment to Israel’s security and reportedly pledged to cooperate in countering regional “threats” such as Iran and Hezbollah.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic presidential candidate after Joe Biden dropped out of the race, also told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who met at the White House, that she expressed concern about the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Kamala Harris issued a statement after the meeting saying that they had extensive talks with Netanyahu and discussed issues related to the Middle East. Harris said that Israel has the right to defend itself and the United States will continue to provide Israel with all possible support in this regard.
