Ciphertext.- The bicameral commission designated to study the constitutional reform project has decided to hear next Monday from Antoliano Peralta, the executive branch’s legal adviser, to explain the scope of the plan, which contemplates the elimination of 53 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, a controversial move.

The bicameral commission, composed of 27 senators and representatives, outlined on Thursday the line of work that will be followed to analyze each point in the project that declares the need for constitutional reform.

To expedite the work, the members of the Assembly will meet on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
In this tricky task given to the panel of lawmakers by the National Assembly, several proposals put forward by the ruling party will be analyzed, including the elimination of 15 deputies instead of 53 as suggested by President Abinader.

The main opposition parties, Fuerza del Pueblo and PLD, attended the first meeting of this Thursday but did not present any proposals as they remained steadfast in their rejection of the regulations as unnecessary.
