televisionThe Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) has announced the promotions of two outstanding team members, Tessalee Moore and Rhea Walker, to key positions within the organization. Moore serves as Special Projects Manager, while Walker serves as Member Relationship Marketing Officer.

Moore joined BHTA as an intern in 2019 while pursuing a degree in Tourism Management at the University of the West Indies’ Center for Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Bahamas. In her new role, she will be responsible for the evaluation, development and implementation of innovative special projects.

“This promotion not only represents career advancement, but is also a testament to my commitment to advancing Barbados as a tourism destination through the Association, a responsibility I value most,” said Moore of her new role. “As a young leader, I firmly believe that success transcends age, but rather focuses on resilience, ability and unwavering determination.” Moore was recently selected as a member of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Young Leaders Forum for 2024-2026 and is eager to build valuable partnerships and lead groundbreaking projects with her dedicated team.

Walker, who has served as the association’s administrative assistant and receptionist for the past six years, is equally excited about the promotion. Calling her tenure at BHTA a rewarding time that has shaped her career path, Walker stressed that through her work at the association, she has been exposed to all aspects of the industry.

“From advocacy to stakeholder engagement, working with BHTA has broadened my horizons and given me a wealth of experience that has helped me grow both professionally and personally. I see this as an opportunity to make a real impact and drive innovation for the organization and the industry as a whole,” she said. “I am committed to enhancing the member experience and advocating for the interests of the industry, and I am eager to use my skills and vision to drive BHTA to greater success. I welcome new challenges.”

In his new role, Walker will oversee BHTA initiatives designed to enhance the member experience and grow the organization, including the development of strategic membership development programs and networking opportunities.
