Unlike most EU countries where begging has ended, we see children and adults begging on the streets of Bosnia and Herzegovina every day. The problem of begging in our country has been there for many years. Unfortunately, begging in Bosnia and Herzegovina has reached alarming levels and we should not forget that it is always closely linked to human trafficking, especially child trafficking.
According to statistics, more than 70% of victims of human trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina are children. Last year alone, 28 of the 37 confirmed victims were minors, most of whom were exploited for begging.
