The Baltic Beach Football League was held in Pärnu on Saturday, with defending champions FC Copenhagen lifting the championship trophy. Among Estonian clubs, SK Augur Enema performed best and finished third.
In the main tournament, Augur won six out of eight games, which put them in second place in the standings. In the semifinals, they faced Danish club BSC Copenhagen, where they had to concede a clear 5:3 advantage, according to jalgpall.ee.
In the bronze medal match, the two teams tied 1:1 with the Latvian team Riga Football Club. Due to no hits in the overtime, the winner was finally decided by penalty shootout. The Estonian team finished 4:3 and reached the podium for the second consecutive year.
The penalty shootout also decided the overall champion of the tournament, and after the game ended with a 5-5 draw, Copenhagen won the penalty shootout 4-3 over Germany’s Robben of Rostock. It is worth noting that Copenhagen equalized the score with 0.1 seconds left in the game.
BSC Pärnu Tervis, Nõmme BSC Olybet and BSC Thunder Arvutitark, which are still participating, finished 5th to 7th in the league respectively.
The Baltic and Scandinavian League was first held in 2022, when the joint Latvian-Ukrainian team Vides Tehnika Erawadee won the championship. Last season, BSC Copenhagen won the championship.
