The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission strongly condemned the “barbaric attack carried out by an armed terrorist group” that took place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the city of Barsaligue, in north-central Burkina Faso.
ECOWAS called on its member states to strengthen cooperation in areas such as intelligence sharing and border security, and to enhance the implementation of the regional counter-terrorism strategy. She believed that the countries in the sub-region must unite to effectively respond to this common threat.
ECOWAS expressed its sincere condolences to the Government and the entire Burkina Faso people and sent a special message of condolences to the families of the victims. She also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
