In afternoon trading that day, Baidu’s stock price rose 1.84% to $97.16.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that China has added Shanghai to the list of cities where driverless robotaxis can be used as part of its efforts to commercialize self-driving cars.
Shanghai officials said residents can book robot taxis for free through three companies including Baidu.
