Following the film “Days Ahead”, this is the third directorial experience of Ayman Zidane, who previously released two feature films, “Amina” and “Black Cloud”, in which he tells the story of Syrian society during and after the war. He did not present the war directly in it, but used it as the background of the narrative, telling the story of a society cruelly affected by the war.
The film “Days Leading” performed well at the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, his film “Amina” won the Best Director Award for Arab Film at the Meknes Film Festival, and the film “Dark Clouds” won the Jerusalem Prize for Artistic Achievement at the Alexandria Film Festival elsewhere.
In his latest film, Leading Days, Ayman Zidane further delves into the details of Syrian society and the impact the war has had on it by telling stories at the intersection of various societies, with the focus being on the character of a man of cold character and personable manners who has designed a particular world for himself and who has identified himself mentally with his profession, from which he cannot escape even after retirement.
In terms of narrative structure, the film adopts a form closer to a police case, with suspense and excitement as the principle.
