The cause of death of a 36-year-old Latvian man who was involved in a car accident in Ayia Napa on Wednesday was multiple injuries caused by the accident, according to an autopsy conducted today by medical examiner Nikolas Charalambous.

Stiv Theodoulou, press representative of the Famagusta Police Department, said, “Today, Dr. Nikolas Charalambous performed an autopsy on the body of Romans Cvetkovs, 36 years old, a resident of Ayia Napa from Latvia, at the Nicosia General Hospital. The accident occurred shortly before midnight on Wednesday, July 17. As the cause of death was found to be multiple injuries, it was a traffic accident”.

It is understood that the traffic accident occurred when the 36-year-old man was driving a motorcycle on Tevkrou Anthia Street in Ayia Napa, and at some point on the road he deviated from his route, entered the oncoming traffic, climbed onto the sidewalk, initially hit a tree, and then hit the residential fence and came to a stop.

As a result of the impact, the 36-year-old man was injured and taken to Famagusta General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 1am on Thursday, July 18.

Famagusta transport authorities are investigating the case.
