On June 11, 2024, the Phnom Penh Court of Appeal upheld the Phnom Penh Municipal Court’s decision to continue detaining Mr. Sun Chanthit, chairman of the National Power Party. The decision was made after the defendant’s lawyer walked out of the court and the authorities did not bring Mr. Sun Chanthit to court. However, the party representative claimed that he would not give up the plan to hold a demonstration on June 16 to demand the release of the National Power Party leader.
