A pro-life, pro-family group, Citizen Go, has faced controversy in Paris after their buses were emblazoned with the slogan “Stop attacks on Christians,” leading to the arrest of six team members. The arrests came during the Summer Olympics in Paris, when tensions were high and Christian symbols and messages were reportedly mocked.
Citizen Go shared on X that their members were detained overnight after their bus carrying an anti-mockery message was stopped by authorities. The group criticized the French legal response, saying that spreading their message was within the law and calling the prosecutors’ actions an overreach.
The controversy has intensified after drag queens sparked widespread criticism for their provocative re-enactment of The Last Supper at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. A spokesperson for Citizen Go believes that while Christian imagery has been mocked, their message of support for Christianity has been overly suppressed.
After their release, French authorities demanded that the propaganda on the bus be removed. Over the objections of Citizen Go’s lawyers, they were expelled from Paris and escorted out by police, who denounced the event as “anti-Christian political and ideological persecution.”
