News from Angola – Young Angolan entrepreneurs Nzinga António and Ivo Bonfirm have won the Anzisha Prize, Africa’s main youth entrepreneurship initiative, in two of four categories, NA learned Friday.
According to a statement, Nzinga António won the income award for his company Confeitaria Gailza and Ivo Bonfirm, founder and CEO of Angola’s Óptica Ipris Vision Center, which produces eyeglass lenses and frames.
In the case of the young entrepreneur Nzinga António, the report highlights that “the award recognizes her ability to significantly improve operations, optimize manufacturing processes and ensure that her products reach consumers faster”.
The four winners of the 2024 edition were announced at a gala in Johannesburg, South Africa, which recognized the efforts of young African entrepreneurs to drive change in their communities.
Besides the Angolans, young Mathias Charles Yabe and Sharon Alyorneku from Ghana won the Job Creation and Narrative awards respectively.
The document quoted Hatim Eltayeb, executive director of the African Leadership Academy, as saying that the African Entrepreneurship Education Prize is an important platform to showcase the incredible talent and potential of young entrepreneurs on the continent and drive much-needed change in the marginalized entrepreneurial sector.
The Anzisha Prize is Africa’s largest award for the youngest entrepreneurs aged 15 to 22, providing more than $140,000 in business support and prize money each year to young entrepreneurs across the continent.
This is a three-year scholarship program for young African entrepreneurs that aims to provide young people with the tools and resources to run successful businesses, support them, and recognize their entrepreneurial efforts.
