The Director of Military Intelligence and Security of the Republic, João Massano, met on Friday with the Director of Military Intelligence and Security of the United States of America to strengthen relations at the international military-security level.
General João Massano is visiting Washington, USA, at the invitation of the US Foreign Minister, to discuss international military security issues since joining the Africa Command, in order to improve existing contacts between the two countries.
During the meeting, the importance of coordination and coherence on issues related to terrorism and political and military stability in Africa, especially in the subregion to which Angola belongs, was emphasized.
According to a note from the Angolan Embassy in the United States, the two countries also strengthened bilateral cooperation in the areas of training and capacity building, strengthening technical capabilities, sharing strategic information, and envisaged the establishment of a regular schedule of visits.
