Angelina Jolie to receive special honor at 2024 Toronto International Film Festival

Angelina Jolie is about to receive a special honor for her humanitarian work at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Oscar-winning actress will be honored with the Toronto International Film Festival Tribute Award by Impact Media on September 8 at the festival’s fundraising gala.

The award, which celebrates individuals who combine social impact with film, has previously been given to Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar and Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair.

The latest film written and directed by Jolie, Bloodless, will have its world premiere at the festival.

Based on Alessandro Baricco’s novel of the same name, this war drama tells the story of a young girl seeking revenge for the murder of her father and brother.

Starring Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir.

The TIFF also plans to present the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award to Toronto filmmaker David Cronenberg, the Share Her Journey Trailblazer Award to Cate Blanchett, and the Tribute Performer Award to Amy Adams.

The 49th Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 5 to 15.
