Another game, another double-double for Angel Reese.
Less than three quarters in, the Chicago Sky rookie forward played what she does best, finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds as the team lost to the Phoenix Mercury 86-68 on Sunday night. It was Reese’s third straight double-double since the Olympic break and the first time she’s had 20 rebounds in her career.
Reese started the game off-kilter, but she improved her efficiency in the second half. She shot 8-of-16 from the field, the first time she shot 50% or better since July 7 against the Seattle Storm. She finished the game with a plus-minus of -20.
Fans on social media praised Reese for her performance, as she once again posted a double-double on Sunday:

Angel Reese will continue to be a double-double machine. But her offensive efficiency must be higher and her defense must be more solid and controlled. #wnba

Angel Reese easily got a double-double in 3 games. In the WNBA, she can get a double-double in every game. Like you said, no dunks are needed? A stronger league is needed in the new era pic.twitter.com/MIXecETyBb

With six minutes left in the third quarter, Angel Reese already had a double-double. #skytown
Reese has proven herself to be a consistent source of points and rebounds, but she still has some areas to improve. Her offensive efficiency needs to improve to cope with the high volume of points she is putting up on offense.
Still, Reese provides a foundation for the Sky as the team continues its pursuit of its first WNBA title since 2021.
