The victims were identified as Mavluda Fayziyeva (56), Maftuna Hakimova (27), Kamila Shavkatova (5) and Timur Shavkatov (4). Their bodies were found stabbed on Friday evening. When the suspect’s brother returned home and found his wife, two young children and their mother with stab wounds in the apartment, he called the police.
New York Post As writtenAfter the crime, the suspect wrapped the mother’s body in a blanket and placed the children’s bodies in a laundry basket and hid them in a closet. Neighbors heard the children shout “Moon, moon!”
According to witnesses, the suspect first left the building but then returned and yelled, “I’m innocent, arrest me, not me.” He was taken away in handcuffs and is expected to appear in court on Sunday.
It is understood that the family came to the United States in 2007. They have been living in an apartment in Brooklyn for the past ten years.
The New York Post reported that the suspect may be mentally ill. Neighbors knew him, but they said his family did not allow him to go out often. They also added that the man may have been under the influence of drugs.
