Mr. Hydara, co-publisher of The Point, is in the United States to participate in a panel discussion organized by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on human rights violations and press freedom around the world. He will also meet with members of the U.S. Congress, other prominent figures, and the Gambian community in Washington, D.C., to discuss the democratic transition in The Gambia, the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit against former Gambian death squad member Michael Sang Correa in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado for human rights violations committed in The Gambia during the administration of former President Yahya Jammeh, and seeking justice for Jammeh’s victims.
