“Age is really not an issue,” said Alexa Ilacad, who is two years older than her on-screen partner KD Estrada. The two, collectively known as KDLex, have been “dating exclusively” since 2022.
“It’s not a big deal, as long as you have the same ideas, the same maturity, the same outlook when it comes to your relationship. That’s all that matters,” Alexa said in a recent interview with Inquirer Entertainment.
Although Alexa has called KD her “constant” and her “dream come true” and KD has called her his “partner”, the two have refused to confirm rumors that they are in an actual relationship.
Alexa said she appreciates KD’s patience. “Sometimes, we’ll talk and I’ll be like, ‘What if nothing happens between us?’ He’ll say that’s okay and that he’s glad he had the chance to love me,” Alexa said. “I feel the same way. It’s like a privilege. I’m going to enjoy this journey. If the end result is that we’re together, thank God. If not, thank you.”
The singer and actress said she finds value in waiting. “Good things do come to those who wait. I feel like we are slowly planting seeds in each other’s gardens. One day, we will reap the fruits together. I don’t know if I think too much, but I sometimes say, at this age, I want my life to be like this; or I want to have this or that when I’m this age; or have my own family at this age. That’s why I really try to make sure the path to get there is clear.”
She continued: “Waiting is a really good thing because that’s how you decide if what you’re doing is worth it or if you’re just fooling yourself. That’s who I am.”
Alexa says family support is also important. “When I was young and naive, I would say, ‘When my mom doesn’t approve of someone I love, I will fight for him no matter what.’ Today, I realize I was wrong. Parental approval is more important because there is so much peace and happiness in this special relationship. I am lucky because we are both loved by our families,” she points out.
Selflessness
When asked what the best thing about being with KD is, Alexa said, “It’s the support I get from him. I’m amazed at the way he loves me. I’m amazed at how someone can be so selfless. I didn’t think someone like him could be real—I know he only cares about me and my true happiness. He’s very supportive of anything I want to achieve in life, even though he’s not in the picture.”
“The phrase ‘I love you so much and I want you to be happy even if I’m not a part of you’ really applies to him. Sure, he’s a part of me, but that’s how I feel about him. It’s overwhelming, but in a good way. I guess that’s what soulmates are. I felt that way very early on,” Alexa said.

At a recent media conference announcing Alexa as the newest host of the reality TV show “Big Brother Philippines,” Alexa said that Big Brother Philippines co-star Melai Cantiveros’ marriage to Jason Francisco is “ideal,” setting it as her “relationship goals.”
“It’s so stable! They’re married, they’re starting a family, they’re living a great life, who wouldn’t want that?” Alexa said. “When I go into a relationship, I make sure there’s a goal or an intention to take it to a different level. I’m not going to date someone just to be funny or to be boring. I want that person to have the same goals as me. I’m very vocal about that. KD and I talk about stuff like that. We check to see if our goals align, if we have the same dreams, and if we can work together to achieve those dreams.”
Feels like a winner
Alexa and KD were both members of “PBB Kumunity Season 10” in 2021. Surprisingly, Alexa’s most memorable experience was when she was kicked out. “We didn’t know what was going on outside. We were eager to hear music or people talking outside. We didn’t know if people were actually watching,” she explained.
“When I walked out the door, I felt the warm reception from people, not only for me but for KD as well. It was also memorable to finally hear other people’s stories and how they could relate to us. They’d say, ‘I’m so proud of you because you did this or that.’ I may not have won, but I feel like a winner,” Alexa said.
