Australia’s top tennis player Alex De Mino said he will compete in the U.S. Open at the end of the month after withdrawing from the Olympics due to a hip injury, Reuters reported.
De Mino withdrew from Wimbledon following a hamstring tear during his quarter-final match against Novak Djokovic.
“I have been working hard and training constantly to recover from my injury,” De Mino, 25, wrote on Instagram.
“It has been extremely difficult to miss the tournament and I’m delighted to say I will be playing in New York. Thank you all for the support, it really helped me get through a tough time,” added the Australian.
