According to the Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran, after arriving, Araghchi first went to the Martyrs’ Memorial in the Ministry of Defense building to pay tribute to the martyrs and reiterate his loyalty to the martyrs’ lofty ideals.
The senior diplomat then held his first meeting with the Committee of Deputy Ministers, where he paid tribute to former martyrs President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussein Amira Abdullahian and praised them for their sincere service to the country.
Araghchi spoke about the opportunities and challenges facing the country in the current regional and international situation and the expectations of Iran’s Supreme Leader for the new government, stressing the need to respond to these expectations and hopes with collective and utmost efforts, especially by giving full play to the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in promoting the smooth development of state affairs in all fields.
He also exchanged views with the deputy ministers on the upcoming diplomatic programmes and asked them to carry out the relevant work carefully and meticulously with the help of their managers and colleagues.
Araghchi also expressed gratitude and appreciation for the work of Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani, as well as Deputy Ministers and other staff, especially after the deaths of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister.
