Accomplished GT racer Ahmad al Harthy will return to Europe in a few days for the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup, which marks the midpoint of the OQ by Oman Racing 2024 season.
Omani athlete Al Harthy will head to Germany’s Nürburgring for the much-anticipated three-hour race on Sunday, July 28, where he will be looking to achieve his best result of the GTWCE event to date alongside bronze-class teammates Sam De Haan and Jens Klingmann.
This weekend’s race will be Al-Hati’s fourth in just six weeks, as he has been busy travelling the globe, competing not only in the GTWCE Endurance Cup but also in the FIA World Endurance Championship, where he competes alongside Maxime Martin and Valentino Rossi.
Of course, Team WRT, which competes in the FIA WEC, is also responsible for the engineering of the No. 30 BMW M4 GT3 of OQ by Oman Racing. Al Harthy hopes that this continuity and consistency will help him to have a great weekend at the Nürburgring.
Coming off a strong top-five finish in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Sao Paulo, Brazil, just over a week ago, the Omani driver heads to Germany aiming to bring some light to the GTWCE, a sister series that has had mixed results in its first two events.
Al-Hassi and teammates De Haan and Klingman finished in the top six at the first round of the GTWCE at Circuit Paul Ricard in France in April. The second round, the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, was less fortunate, as they were forced to retire due to mechanical problems. Heading into the upcoming weekend, the OQ by Oman Racing driver is 14th in the bronze class standings.

Al Harthy gears up for AWS Endurance Cup
With support from Quebec Racing, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Oman Telecommunications Company and BMW Oman, Al Harthy returns to the Nürburgring for the first time since the 2021 Endurance Cup, when he scored a top-five finish in the Pro-Am class alongside Giacomo Petrobelli and Maxime Martin.
Ahmed Khadi:
“The last few months have been very busy, with a lot of travel, a lot of racing and now we are preparing for the next round of GTWCE in Germany. I am looking forward to returning to the Nürburgring after a few years away and I hope we can race with the best car possible.
“After a great start to the GTWCE season at Paul Ricard, the race in Spa was very unfortunate, so we are all determined to get back into the standings. Sam and Jens have been running really well, and the OQ by Oman Racing drivers always deliver strong cars, so we hope that testing and qualifying go as smoothly as possible, and then we can go for a good result and win the bronze class for Oman.”
On Friday, July 26, following two 90-minute test sessions, a one-hour bronze practice session will take place later in the day at 17:45 local time. Track racing on Saturday, July 27 will begin at 13:15 local time, with another two hours of practice sessions ahead of qualifying. The final qualifying session will take place at 08:45 local time on Sunday, July 28, with the three-hour race starting at 15:00 local time.
