Al-Halasi wins silver in 100m at Marrakech Paralympics

Muscat: Oman’s Taher Al Harasi won the silver medal in the 100m race on the opening day of the Paralympic Athletics Grand Prix in Marrakech, Morocco. The event was held from April 26 to 29 under the supervision of the Paralympic Committee.

Al Harasi finished second in the 100m race with a time of 12.52 seconds, while Malaysian athlete Mohammad Buzi finished first with a time of 12.65 seconds.

National Paralympic athletes Taha Halasi and Mohamed Mashaki train for the long jump competition under the guidance of coach Sonya Mustafa. The delegation also includes physiotherapist Hani Shamaki and is led by Omani Paralympic Committee member Adnan Al Owadi.

Al Ouidi, head of the delegation, said that the competition in this competition was very fierce. It was a good start for the national team to win the silver medal in the 100-meter race. We look forward to maintaining such results in the next competitions and qualifying for the competition.

Al Ouidi said that the championship is one of the major events on the International Paralympic Committee’s calendar and a qualifying event for the Paralympic Games in France in 2024. The athletes participating in this championship were selected based on the qualification numbers they obtained in previous competitions. More than 400 athletes from 64 countries around the world participated in the championship and competed at different levels.

Coach Sonya Mustafa said the players are ready to compete and win the title.
