Nizwa: The implementation rate of development and operational projects in Dahilia Governorate has reached 66%. These projects fall under the Governorate Development Plan and the development budget applicable until the end of May this year. Some of these projects will be completed in the first half of this year. Once completed, these projects will become one of the important tourist destinations serving the local community and tourists.
Shaikh Hilal bin Hamdan al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakiliya Governorate, said: “Some projects will soon begin implementation and others will be completed, including the development of the Nizwa Gateway, which has reached 85% implementation and infrastructure is complete. We expect it to be completed in the early second half of this year. It stretches from Firq Bridge to the traffic lights at the intersection leading to the city center, with a total length of 1.5 kilometers. The project involves the creation of green areas on both sides of the public road, with a total area of 23,000 square meters.”

The governor explained that the Nizwa Park project, which covers an area of 150,000 square meters, will be implemented next month, when it will be handed over to the executive company. It will be a recreational park and integrated place where all family members can benefit. In addition, the project will provide investment opportunities for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized business owners. It includes a library, an artificial lake with an area of 4,542 square meters, an indoor game hall, 25,000 square meters of green space, 1,800 square meters of children’s playground rubber tiles, 4,000 shade trees and flowers, in addition to sports facilities, restaurants, etc.
The Governor said: “Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard is one of the development, entertainment, culture and service projects that will be implemented soon after the project receives financial allocation and is put out for tender by the Tender Committee. This is a collaboration between the Provincial Development Plan and the Development Budget and costs SR7 million. We expect the private sector to contribute SR1.5 million to promote the project. The project is an extension of the Nizwa Gateway project and covers a total area of 145,000 square meters.

The private sector, in partnership with Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat), is investing in an integrated bus and public transport station in Nizwa governorate. The governor said the station, which covers an area of 11,412 square metres, will include a commercial market, a passenger waiting station and parking. The governor said the construction of Samayil Hospital has begun, adding that it will become one of the reliable referral hospitals after Nizwa and Bahla hospitals and will serve Samayil, Izki and Bidbid governorates. — ONA
