Muscat: Adam Balwani will represent the Sultanate of Oman at the R&A Junior Open in Scotland. Adam is no stranger to international competitions, having been a member of the national team for many years. The 15-year-old is well known for his performances on the GOjuniors tour and the domestic tour in Oman.

“I’m really excited to be representing my country at the R&A Junior Open this year, having hosted a camp in Scotland with the Omani Junior National Team a few years ago, so I know what to expect on the golf course. The standard of the tournament is very high, with each country selecting their best Under-16 players, and I’m looking forward to competing against them and learning from them,” said Adam.

HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Chairman of the Oman Golf Association, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Adam. We must thank the R&A for their continued support. It is a privilege to send players to such a prestigious event and to have the opportunity to visit The Open. Adam has shown great dedication as a member of the Oman Junior National Team and has deservedly earned his place by dominating his age group in the GOjuniors Tour domestic tournaments. We wish him all the best.”

The R&A Junior Open was founded in 1994 and is held every two years at a golf course near the Open venue. The 2024 Open will be held at Royal Troon in Scotland from July 18 to 21, while the R&A Junior Open will be held at nearby Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club from July 15 to 17.

The three-round tournament features representatives from golf federations around the world, with each federation able to enter its best boys and girls under the age of 16. Currently, 71 countries are set to be represented in the 2024 tournament.
