Ahmed Dogan returns the “Varna” thermal power station to former minister Danail Papazov – Business

Bird.bg wrote on Facebook that it is clear from the documents of the Commercial Registry that the Honorary Chairman of the DPS Ahmed Dogan wants to return the ownership of the “Varna” TPP to the former minister.

On August 12, a request was submitted for 100% of the headquarters to become the property of the company “Sigda” again. Currently, the company’s shares are held by “Sigda Investment”, of which Danail Papazov, the former Minister of Transport of the “Olesharsky” Cabinet, holds 30%, and the majority shareholder is Ahmed Dogan. In 2017, Papazov acquired Varna TPP from CEZ through Sigda, and in August 2018, Ahmed Dogan acquired 70% of the shares of the plant.

The change in ownership was announced just three days after the Anti-Corruption Commission (CPC) announced it was investigating the use of a 148 million lev loan received by businessman Rumen Gaitanski-Valka from BBR.

According to KPK data, 30 million Bulgarian levs of the loan in question was paid to Targovska Banka D to repay the loan that Varna TPP had given to the financial institution. The money was transferred through the “Kristalna voda” company controlled by Rumen Gaitanski.
