Moroccan champion Abdelilah Gani won gold at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Sunday morning.

Ghani won first place in the Paralympic shot put and set a new world record of 9.22 meters, winning Morocco’s first Paralympic gold medal.

Morocco objected to the Georgian “Giga” attempt as “illegal”, and after taking this objection into account, Morocco accepted it, so Ghani won the first place after finishing second.

Morocco has won five medals so far in the Paralympics: Ghani won gold, Fatima Zahra Idrisi won silver, and Raja Akarmash, Ayman Haddawi and Ayoub Al Darwish won three bronze medals each.
